Building AI tools that check course materials for accessibility problems and fix them.
I built an AI-powered tool that converts PDFs to HTML, and a remediation tool for completely untagged PDFs. The remediation tool checks documents with veraPDF against PDF/UA and the machine-checkable WCAG 2.2 criteria, then fixes common failures: missing titles and language, tagging, tab order, and table headers.
I also rewrote the backend to process jobs asynchronously with Django Channels, WebSockets, and Redis, led experiments with batch and multi-step processing that cut token and EC2 hosting costs by about 60%, and sped up the test suite 76×.
