AutoTranslateEx
Chrome extension that translates Chinese comics into English, using OCR and translation models that run on your own computer.
It finds the speech bubbles on a comic page, reads them with OCR, translates them, and draws the English over the original art. The models run through a local Python server.
I benchmarked OCR and translation models on accuracy, speed, and memory use to set three speed/quality tiers. The OCR setup I chose reads a page in about 250 ms on a CPU, with a 3.7% character error rate.
